Volunteer - Old Age Home
Dates: Year Round
Traditionally old people lived with their adult children, however, because of the high incidence of AIDS many men and women from this generation have died leaving no one to care for their aging parents.
Program Description: Volunteers are needed to support and take care of old people in the care homes. Volunteers would work along local staff in the care homes to provide, personal care, feeding, taking care of medicines, physical activity, personal hygiene and simply spending quality time with them to cheer them up and bring a smile to their face.
Your Role in the Program.
Volunteers would work 5 days a week for 4-5 hours spending time in the homes to take care of inmates. Volunteers would work along local staff to help in food preperation, giving timely medicines, spending time with them, playing cards, reading out books if possible. Cleaning of rooms, kitchen etc.
Skills and Educational Requirements.
There is no educational requirement for this project; anyone with a heart to help is welcome on this project! However proficiency in English is required. People should be patient, committed and willing to learn.
